Set BREAKOUT WRENCH switch (Figure 21, Item 4) in down position and attach breakout wrench
(Figure 21, Item 2) to upper drill rod (Figure 21, Item 1).

WARNING
Make sure hoist plug is not unscrewing while breaking joint free between drill rods. Drill rod
could come loose and fall. Failure to comply may result in injury or death to personnel.
Seek medical attention in the event of an injury.

Set BREAKOUT WRENCH switch (Figure 21, Item 4) in up position to break joint free between upper drill
rod (Figure 21, Item 1) and bottom drill rod (Figure 21, Item 3).
12.
Repeat Steps 10 and 11 until upper drill rod (Figure 21, Item 1) has broken free from lower drill rod
(Figure 21, Item 3).
