Figure 4.
Shift Lever Operation.
3.
Shift transmission into 1st gear or reverse (R) using gearshift lever (Figure 4, Item 3).
4.
Release clutch pedal (Figure 4, Item 1) to engage clutch.
5.
Depress accelerator pedal (Figure 4, Item 2), as required.
CAUTION
Clutch brake engages in last 2 in. (5 cm) of clutch pedal travel. Clutch brake is not used
during shifts between gears. Use of clutch brake when shifting between gears while vehicle
is moving will decrease life of clutch brake. Failure to comply may result in damage to
equipment.
NOTE
When shifting between gears while vehicle is moving, depress clutch pedal only
enough to accomplish shifting; do not depress clutch pedal fully (to floor) when
shifting between gears.
If upshifting, wait until engine speed slows to transmission speed of the gear you
are shifting into. If downshifting, increase engine speed to match transmission
speed of the gear you are shifting into.
6.
When shifting between gears while vehicle is moving, release accelerator pedal (Figure 4, Item 2) and
depress clutch pedal (Figure 4, Item 1) enough to disengage clutch and move gearshift lever
(Figure 4, Item 3) into desired gear.
7.
Release clutch pedal (Figure 4, Item 1) completely and depress accelerator pedal (Figure 4, Item 2), as
required.
8.
Repeat Steps 6 and 7, as required.
