Piston ring breakagemay occur If rings are opened more thannecessary when removing or Installing them.Do not strain rings.2If piston replacement is necessary, piston rings mustalso be replaced.3Install piston rings with piston ring pliers. Install oilcontrol ring (1), cast iron compression ring (2) andchrome compression ring (3) in order. Be careful notto strain rings by opening them too wide duringinstallation. Make sure that the piston ring gaps areequally spaced around the piston 120 degrees fromeach other.4Install new retaining ring (1) in lip groove of piston (3)gudgeon bore.When installing cylinder, make sure piston orconnecting rod does not knock againstcrankcase. This could result in seriousdamage to piston or connecting rod.5Insert connecting rod (4) into bottom of piston (3).Make sure that combustion chamber opening (5) ison the flywheel side.6Insert gudgeon pin (2) into piston (3) gudgeon boreand through rod bushing of connecting rod (4). Pushin gudgeon pin until it contacts installed retaining ring(1) and stops.7Install second new retaining ring (1).5-33
