The average long termtolerance deviations to provide extendedcoupling life are approximately 10 percentof the maximum individual allowances listedabove. All three tolerances listed areinterrelated upon adjustment. Anacceptable conservative relationship thatcan be field applied is shown by thecoordinate graph.NOTEEach mainline pumping assembly is factoryaligned and shipped with the flexiblecoupling removed to prevent potentialshipping damage. Normal factory alignmentis performed to very stringent requirementsin order to provide the assurance that fieldrealignment requirements are minimizedafter installation and prior to operation.1.Insure pumping assembly is installed/located on aflat prepared surface (concrete, wooden plat- form, orgravel bed) and is within 5 degrees of level in anydirection. Refer to TM 10-4320-307-10.2. Check to verify proper alignment between pumpand speed increaser gear half couplings as follows:a. Check distance between pump side hub(1) and speed increaser side hub (2) with an in- sidemicrometer (3) at the 4 points shown on vertical andhorizontal axes.NOTEThe readings should be taken near theouter coupling ring, all on approxi-mately the same radius from shaftcenter.3-13
