Frozen bearings, poor contact between brushes and commuta-
tor, field terminal shorted out to starter motor frame.
DISASSEMBLY
2. Screws
Remove screws that secure commutator end frame.
3. End frame
Rotate commutator end frame on end of arma-
and bushing
ture shaft after pulling end frame and armature
out and away from motor frame. If end frame
cannot be pulled loose from armature shaft, or
shaft will not rotate in bushings, bushing is
frozen and must be replaced. Remove washer
from commutator end of shaft.
