Close the radiator and oil cooler draincocks. CAUTION Ensure that engine temperature does not exceed 1850F (850C). c. Refill cooling system with clean water. Leave radiator cap off. d. Start engine and observe water level of radiator for evidence of thermostat opening. CAUTION Engine damage may occur if engine is allowed to run without water in cooling system. e. With engine running open the draincocks on the radiator and oil cooler. Flush the cooling system with clean water. Replace water being drained by adding an equivalent amount to radiator. f. Stop the engine and drain the cooling system completely. 4-29
