This will prevent short circuitswhich may damage other electrical components.Avoid making contact across the two batteryposts. This can result in severe arcing.When removing battery cables, use batteryterminal puller to remove loosened terminals.Forcing battery terminals off without using apuller may damage the battery terminals.Remove batterybox cover.Toremove batteryfrom batterybox, disconnectthe negative (-)battery terminalfirst and thenthe positive (+)terminal.To re-move cables,loosen terminals,then use a bat-tery terminalpuller to removeterminals.Cleanbox and coverwith a solutionof baking soda(Federal Specification EE-B-86) and water to remove acid orcorrosion caused by battery electrolyte.
