SYMPTOM
Air Filter Shows Signs Of Engine Oil Contamination.
MALFUNCTION
Engine turbocharger bearing failure, or turbocharger has leaking interior gasket or seal.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
NOTE
Defective seals and gaskets in turbocharger will allow engine oil to creep out of
inlet port. Restricted air inlet line (plugged air filters) may cause the turbocharger
to operate under stress resulting in excessive presence of oil. Extended engine
operation at low idle, and not allowing turbocharger to cool down prior to engine
shutdown should be avoided.
Visually inspect air filter (engine) (Figure 1) and air cleaner assembly for serviceability,
restriction, and oil (WP 0214).
