PENDANT OPERATION OF DRILL ROD HANDLING SYSTEM - Continued
8.
With aid of an assistant, perform the following steps:
a.
Move tophead (Figure 25, Item 2) to top of derrick, if required.

b.
Set TOP SLIDE switch (Figure 25, Item 7) to right to position tophead (Figure 25, Item 2) over drill rod
(Figure 25, Item 5).
c.
Pull ROTATION control lever (Figure 25, Item 9) back slightly to begin rotation of the tophead
(Figure 25, Item 2).
d.
Pull FAST FEED control (Figure 25, Item 8) back gently to lower tophead (Figure 25, Item 2) until it
enters into female opening of drill rod (Figure 25, Item 5) and is fully seated.
e.
Pull ROTATION control (Figure 25, Item 9) back to align tooling joint (Figure 25, Item 4) with tophead
mounted wrench (Figure 25, Item 3).
f.
Push foot switch (Figure 25, Item 6) with foot and hold to engage tophead mounted wrench
(Figure 25, Item 3).
