If thecracking extends over the edge of the H section andon both sides of the connecting rod flange, the crackmust be completely removable, by grinding nodeeper than 0.0050 inch (0.1270 mm). Otherwise,replace connecting rod in either case. Minorcracking in the longitudinal direction (along flowlines) may be removed by grinding no deeper than0.0313 inch (0.7938 mm). If crack is deeper,replace connecting rod. Remove rust and treat inaccordance with MIL-T-704. Do not finishconnecting rod.6-136
