Replace if scored, overheated, out-of-round, or
damaged. Replace if inside diameter (pressed in) or
outside diameter is beyond the tolerance limits.
Replace if piston pin (new or acceptable) clearance
is outside the tolerance limits.
20. Piston pin
Replace if piston pin clearance in new or acceptable
small-end bush is outside the tolerance limits.
NOTE
When replacing connecting rods, make sure color code on bottom of
bearing cap is the same as the replaced rod, indicating the same weight
class. The connecting rods within any weight class should not differ
more than 1.058 ounce (30 grams).
21. Connecting rod
Replace if bent, warped, cracked, or damaged.
Replace if bore for small-end bush is outside
tolerance limits. Replace if big-end bearing bore or
side clearance is outside tolerance limits.
