Rotation ofimpeller without water in volute will damage pump components.11.Engine shut-Test engine shutdown capability and fuel flowdown valvewhen engine shutdown valve is normally openand closed. Try to start engine without pushingin reset button. Engine should not start. Do notcrank engine for more than 30 seconds. Thisprocedure will test the valve's shutdown (closed)capability. Start engine with reset button pushedin. If engine starts and oil pressure reaches atleast 25 psi (172 kPa), release button. Engineshould continue to run. Some adjustment of thevalve may be necessary. Follow procedure out-lined in step 6 above.12.EngineStart engine. If engine still runs rough after 5minutes, try further adjustment of engine shut-down valve. If engine continues to malfunction,refer to troubleshooting guide.4-171
