Notify direct supportmaintenance if radiator is leaking.WARNINGDo not remove thermostat when engine is atoperating temperature unless it is absolutelynecessary. Hot coolant escaping from the coolingsystem can cause severe scalding. If thermostatmust be removed, open the radiator cap part wayand wait until any escaping air stops. Then draincooling system to a level below the thermostat .b. Remove and test thethermostat. Removeradiator cap and opendraincock at bottom rightof radiator. Drain thecooling system to a levelwhere the coolant isbelow the thermostat.Disconnect the radiatorhose at water outletelbow after looseningclamp. Remove bolts,lockwashers, water outletelbow, gasket, andthermostat. Check theoperation of thethermostat by immersingit in a container of hotwater. Place athermometer in thecontainer, but do not4-51
