TM 5-4320-302-146-20. CRANKSHAFT ASSEMBLY (CONT)Location/ItemActionRemarks12. CrankshaftReplacement of main bearing bush depends onmain bearingdiameter of crankshaft main bearing journal.journal andMeasure journal diameter in accordance withmain bearingparagraph 6-18.bush13. Radial clear-Determine main bearing bush/crankshaft mainancebearing journal radial clearance by subtractingjournal diameter from bearing bush bore. Clear-ance should be 0.0024 to 0.0046 inch (0.060 to0.118 mm). Maximum allowable clearance is0.0118 inch (0.3 mm). Make sure radial clear-ance is within tolerance limits. If not, recheckbearing bush, crankshaft, and/or crankcase. Re-place components in that order if necessaryuntil radial clearance falls within tolerancelimits.14. Main bearingMeasure distance that bush extends from crank-bush endcase. This measurement is the main bearing bushclearanceend clearance. It should be 0.0551 to 0.0669inch (1.40 to 1.70 mm). If measurement is notwithin these tolerance limits, bush is either worndown or protrudes too far from crankcase andmust be replaced.6-170
