Do notdirect live steam against skin.9.Crankcase Clean thoroughly with live steam. Clean all ex-terior openings and surfaces. Be especially carefulto clean all oil passages to make sure they are free.Use a small and/or large wire bristle brush wherenecessary to remove carbon or other deposits fromopenings and surfaces. Use VV-F-800 diesel fuel oilas necessary to soften and remove carbon orhardened oil deposits. Dry with compressed air.10. CrankcaseThoroughly inspect crankcase for any cracks, dis-coloration, distortion, rust, corrosion, or otherdamage. Use MIL-1-6868 magnetic particle in-spection to detect cracks. If crankcase is cracked,distorted, overheated, seriously rusted or corrodedon machined surfaces, or exhibits-other seriousdamage, replace crankcase.6-168
