INSPECTION/REPAIR
1. Solenoid
Inspect for dents, rust, corrosion
housing
or other damage. Discard solenoid
if badly damaged.
2. Screw ter-
Inspect terminals and threaded
minals and
portion of control rod for
control rod
dirty or damaged threads.
Chase threads. Discard sole-
noid if a nut of the same
size and thread cannot be
easily threaded onto threaded
portion of terminals and con-
trol rod.
3. Solenoid
Using a multimeter, test solenoid coil resistance.
continuity
Set meter to X1 scale. Short meter probes to-
test
gether and adjust for zero indication. Measure
electrical resistance between terminals. Meter
shall indicate continuity. If meter indicates in-
finity, discard the solenoid.
4. Solenoid
Using a multimeter, test solenoid coil for short
short cir-
circuits. Short meter probes together and adjust
cuit test
for zero indication. Measure electrical resistance
between either terminal and the solenoid hous-
ing. Meter shall indicate infinity all scales. Dis-
card solenoid if short circuit is indicated.
