PREPARATION FOR STORAGE OR SHIPMENT4-49.GENERALThis section provides instructions for preparing the centrifugal pump unit for short term and intermediate storage orshipment.4-50.ADMINISTRATIVE STORAGEAdministrative storage shall be in accordance with AR 750-1.4-51.SHORT TERM STORAGE (30 days or less)NOTEWhen centrifugal pump unit is taken out of service, take special precautions to protect the interiorand exterior of the unit from rust accumulation and corrosion.a. Lower the back of the frame assembly.WARNINGSevere burns, illness, or death may result if personnel fail to handle dieselfuel properly. Observe the following precautions:·Do not inhale vapor.·Do not refuel near open flame, sparks, or excessive heat.'·Be certain fuel lines and connections are secure.·Do not overfill fuel tank.·Work in a well-ventilated area.b. Fill fuel tank with VV-F-800 diesel fuel oil. Connect centrifugal pump unit to a water supply. Operate the engine for2 minutes at 1200 rpm and no load.NOTEDo not drain the fuel system after this run. Remove water supply after this run.4-189
