ENGINE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START - WWDR - Continued
MALFUNCTION
Fuel level in fuel tank(s) low.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
WARNING
Spilled fuel is slippery and could create a falling hazard. Clean up and
properly dispose of spilled fuel. Failure to comply may result in injury or
death to personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of an injury.
Fuel is highly flammable and can be accidently ignited. Do not allow fuel
to come in contact with hot surfaces, such as exhaust manifold, pipe, or
muffler. Do not smoke or allow open flame or sparks in the vicinity while
working on any part of fuel system. Make sure to keep fire extinguisher
present while refueling. Failure to comply may result in injury or death to
personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of an injury.
Improper grounding while refueling is a safety hazard. Fuel is highly
flammable and can be accidently ignited. Failure to comply may result in
injury or death to personnel. Seek medical attention in the event of an
injury.
Make sure to use personal protective equipment (gloves, goggles) and
follow local guidelines for fuel spill protection. Failure to comply may
result in injury or death to personnel. Seek medical attention in the event

Remove fuel cap from fuel tanks and verify both have adequate fuel for engine operation
(Volume 1, WP 0014).

If only one fuel tank is low, fill fuel tank with clean fuel if available (Volume 1, WP 0014).
Verify if engine starts (Volume 1, WP 0012). If fuel is not available, proceed to next
MALFUNCTION - Fuel crossover valves not set to correct position.
b.
If both fuel tanks are low, fill fuel tank(s) with clean fuel (Volume 1, WP 0014). Verify if
engine starts (Volume 1, WP 0012).
c.
If both fuel tanks have adequate fuel, proceed to MALFUNCTION - Air filter excessively
dirty and/or restricted.
MALFUNCTION
Fuel crossover valves not set to correct position.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
1.
Open driver side catwalk (Volume 1, WP 0017).
2.
Refer to fuel crossover valve placard, and verify if fuel crossover valves are in correct position to
draw fuel from tank with adequate fuel (Figure 5).
