TM 10-4320-226-14c.d.e.f.g.Remove three of four nuts (6) and washers (7) from fuel injection pumpmounting studs.Mark gear teeth on fuel injection pump drive gear (1) and idler gear in casefuel injection pump drive gear falls out of position.Remove remaining bolt (2), flat washer (3) and spacer (4) that secure fuelinjection pump drive gear (1) to fuel injection pump (5).To prevent difficulty in installing fuel injection pump whilefuel injection pump drive gear is disconnected, do not turncrankshaft.While one person holds drive fuel injection drive gear (1) in place, removeremaining nut (6), washer (7) and injection pump (5).Remove and discard gasket (9).5.5.5.2 Installation.a.b.c.d.e.f.g.h.i.j=k.l.Remove two bolts (10), with preformed packing, and one plate (11) with gasket.Turn fuel injection pump drive shaft (12) on new fuel injection pump clockwiseuntil Number 1 plunger just starts to move upward.Install plate (11) with gasket, and two bolts (10) with preformed packing.Install gasket (9) on mounting studs.Before installation of fuel injection pump, check that marks on fuelinjection pump drive gear and idler gear are aligned.Check thatengine is still at TDC for number 1 cylinder.While one person holds fuel injection pump drive gear (1) in place, installfuel injection pump (5) on mounting studs.Install four washers (7) and nuts (6) on mounting studs, but do not tighten.Install three spacers (4), washers (3) and bolts (2) to secure fuel injectionpump drive gear (l).Check to ensure mark on fuel injection gear (1) andidler gear (8) are aligned.Connect fuel injection lines to fuel injection pump.Tighten nuts.Remove rag.Connect fuel lines to fuel supply pump.Set the injection pump timing in accordance with paragraph 5.5.2.5-18
