PREPARATION FOR STORAGE OR SHIPMENT4-36 PREPARTATION FOR STORAGEa.Storage Site.(1) Placement of equipment in administrative storage should be for short peri-ods of time when a shortage of maintenance effort exists.Items should be in mis-sion readiness within 24 hours or within the time factors as determined by the di-r e c t i n g a u t h o r i t y.During the storage period appropriate maintenance records willbe kept.(2) Before placing equipment in administrative storage, current maintenanceservices and equipment serviceable criteria (ESC) evaluations should be completed,shortcomings and deficiencies should be corrected, and all modification work orders(MWO’S) should be applied.( 3 ) S t o r a g e s i t e s e l e c t i o n .Inside storage is preferred for items selected fora d m i n i s t r a t i v e s t o r a g e.If inside storage is not available, trucks, vans, conexcontainers and other containers may be used.b. Storage Plan.(1) Store equipment so as toaccess for inspection, maintenance,take suitable precautions.provide maximum protection from the elements and to provideand exercising. Anticipate removal or deployment problems and(2) Take into account environmental conditions, such as extreme heat or cold; high humidity;blowing sand, dust, or loose debris; soft ground; mud, heavy snows, earthquakes; or combinationsthereof, and take adequate precautions.(3) Establish afire plan and provide for adequate fire fighting equipment and personnel.Change 5 4-51/(4-52blank)
