Air entering body openings isextremely dangerous. Compressed air used for cleaning shall notexceed 100 psi (690 kPa). Use goggles or face shield for eyeprotection. Do not direct airstream against skin.4. Lube oilClean with VV-F-800 diesel fuel oil. Dry withpumpcompressed air and/or soft clean cloth. Inspectcomponents for excessive wear, rust, damage,and/or warpage. Replace if worn or damaged.5. Suction pipea. Inspect for clogs or holes in screen. Replacewith screensuction pipe if necessary.b. Inspect cap screw/nut for stripped or wornthreads. Replace if stripped or worn.REPAIR6. Lube oilDo not attempt repairs on interior of lube oilpump interiorpump. Replace lube oil pump and send replacedcomponentspump to depot maintenance for repair.7. Lube oil pumpa. Remove any rust or corrosion. Clean and treatouter gearin accordance with MIL-T-704 if necessary.b. Repair only minor nicks or burrs with P-C-458crocus cloth. If gear is severely damaged, replacelube oil pump.c. Replace any stripped or damaged hardware.6-65
