SECTION IV.
PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES (PMCS)
4-11. GENERAL.
To ensure that the equipment is ready for operation at all times, it must be inspected systematically so that defects
may be discovered and corrected before they result in serious damage or failure. The necessary preventive
maintenance checks and services are listed in table 4-1. Defects discovered during operation of the system shall
be noted for future correction to be made as soon as operation has ceased. Stop operation immediately if a deficiency
is noted during operation, which would damage the equipment if operation were continued. All deficiencies and short-
comings will be recorded together with the corrective action taken DA Form 2404 (Equipment Inspection and
Maintenance Worksheet) at the earliest possible opportunity.
4-12. QUARTERLY AND MONTHLY PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE SERVICES.
a. This paragraph contains an illustrated tabulated listing of preventive maintenance services which must be per-
formed by organizational maintenance personnel at quarterly or monthly intervals. A quarterly interval is equal to
3 calendar months, or 250 hours of operation, whichever occurs first.

number column is used as a source of item numbers for the TM number column on DA Form 2402, Equipment In-
spection and Maintenance Worksheet. Refer to table 4-1 for quarterly or monthly preventive maintenance services.
Included with the table is a pictorial view of the required inspection sequence (fig. 4-4).

If a malfunction is not listed or is not corrected by listed corrective actions, notify your supervisor.
c. The table lists the common malfunctions which you may find during the operation or maintenance of the tank
