Description of Major Components, Model 609-A.Item NameEXHAUST SYSTEMROTATING ASSEMBLYAXLE AND WHEEL ASSEMBLYAIR INTAKE FILTERENGINE HOODFUEL TANKSLING/TIE DOWN POINTSRADIATORDescription and PurposeExhaust gases are expelled through the exhaustmanifold to the turbocharger. The gases arethen expelled by the turbocharger through themuffler exhaust pipes and rain cap. Enginenoise is reduced by passing exhaust through themuffler and rain is kept out by the rain cap.Provides the interface between the diesel engineand the water pump. The pump rotating assemblycontains the impeller shaft of the pump which issupported by a single, self-lubricated,permanently sealed, ball bearing. The impellershaft drives the impeller which causes the pumpto transfer water.Used to support and transport the pumpingassembly.Provides filtered air to the turbocharger ata t m o s p h e r i c p r e s s u r e.Provides protection to the diesel engine fromrain, snow, and blowing debris.Stores diesel fuel; used to power diesel engineoperation.Tie down points are used to secure the pumpassembly to transportation vehicles. The slingload points are hard points used for slingoperations.Divides engine coolant through many small thinwalled tubes, which have air drawn across themby a fan, to lower engine temperature.1-4
