Unit Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services
CAUTION
During PMCS it is necessary to run the engine
to be sure that the work has been accomplished
satisfactorily. Since the pump is coupled to the
engine through the speed increaser gear, the
pump will run when the clutch is engaged. Do
not operate the pumping assembly unless the
pump casing is filled to the top of the suction
port. The pump will not prime when dry.
Extended operation of a dry pump will destroy
the seal assembly and cause overheating which
could seriously damage the pump.
NOTE
Instructions for starting, running, and stopping the
engine are located on the control panel assembly.
