The top compression or trapezoidal ring can be identifiedby the bright chrome plating. The second compression or taper pistonring can be identified by its cast iron construction. A two-piece oilcontrol ring is used in the oil ring groove. All new piston rings must beinstalled whenever a piston is removed, replaced, or when a newcylinder is installed.6-115
