Do not direct airstreamagainst skin.5. Flywheel andSmooth out nicks or burrs. Remove rust orcarrier mount-corrosion, then clean with VV-F-800 dieseling surfacesfuel oil. Dry with compressed air.CAUTIONStarter pinion damage may occur if chamfered side of re-placement ring gear is not facing same direction as chamferon replaced gear. Note chamfered side of gear beforereplacement.NOTEOnly remove a ring gear if it is to be replaced.6. Ring gearTo remove ring gear from flywheel, support fly-Support flywheelremovalwheel on a solid flatcrankshaft sidesurface, position adown.drift punch onupper edge of ringgear, and lightlytap punch whilemoving it aroundthe gear.5-32
