The pumping assembly has a centrifugal pump that is direct-connected to the diesel
engine by means of a flexible coupling.
The pump speed (revolutions per minute
(rpm)) is determined by the engine speed.
When the pump is primed (filled with
water), pump rotation creates centrifugal force that causes water to flow outward
to the discharge outlet.
The outward flow of water causes suction so that water is
drawn into the pump through the suction inlet.
