Defects discovered during operation of the sys-
tern shall be noted for future correction to be made as soon as opera-
tion has ceased.
Stop operation immediately if a deficiency is noted
during operation, which would damage the equipment if operation were
continued.
All deficiencies and shortcomings will be recorded to-
gether with the corrective action taken on DA Form 2404 (Equipment
Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet) at the earliest possible
opportunity.

OPERATOR PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE CHECKS AND SERVICES.
The preventive maintenance checks and services to be performed at
the operator level of maintenance are listed and defined in table 3-1.
It should be noted that the Item Number column shown in the table is
used as a source of item numbers for the TM Number column on DA Form
2404, Equipment Inspection and Maintenance Worksheet, in recording
results of PMCS.
Included with the table is a pictorial view of the
required inspection sequence (fig. 3-3).

TROUBLESHOOTING

GENERAL.
a.
This section contains troubleshooting information for locat-
ing and correcting most of the operating troubles which may develop in
the tank and pump unit.
Each malfunction for an individual component,
unit, or system is followed by a list of tests or inspections which
will help to determine corrective actions to take.

This manual cannot list all malfunctions that may occur, nor
.
all tests or inspections and corrective actions.
If a malfunction is
not listed or is not corrected by listed corrective actions, notify
your supervisor.
c.
Table 3-2 lists the common malfunctions which you may find
during the operation or maintenance of the tank and pump unit or its
components.
Perform the tests/inspections and corrective actions in
the order listed.
